Duets with the Masters

Some paintings invite me in. Looking from the outside is not enough. I want to walk down that lonely street, feel the sun sparkling on the water, have a drink in the beer garden. It's not just the place that inspired the painter that I want to visit; I want to experience the act of composing the picture -- choosing the colors and textures and placing the shapes. With Macke, I had to slide the saturation level all the way to the right to have my images blend in. All art builds on previous art, so I dare to add my photographic harmonies (or discord?) to long-completed paintings. Most of my alterations are playful, but with the wrongful deaths of George Floyd, Breona Taylor and others in 2020, I called upon Goya to help me express my outrage.
